1. How is AI impacting your work?
VAST Data is a company focused on providing the underlying infrastructure to accelerate the time to value for data, a key component of an AI data stack. I focus on helping our customers build storage, compute, and data management solutions to build some of the world's most innovative AI-based solutions, harnessing the power of both structured and unstructured data.
2. How do you use AI in your daily life?
I love to use AI to help me write better, brainstorm, generate ideas, and write basic code. I always have a tab open with ChatGPT or similar.
3. What is your favorite AI tool right now?
I love to use any tool built on AI because it feels like I'm helping push forward cutting-edge solutions. My favorite is ChatGPT, but I also have been experimenting with other chat-based AI tools like you.com, Claude, etc. Some are better than others, it depends what you're trying to accomplish.
4. What advice do you have for someone who is just getting started with AI?
The underlying technology behind AI is changing by the minute, but the high-level principles (tokenization, training, inferencing, etc.) remain fairly standard. Learn those first, and then delve into the details. There are myriad sources for learning, so play around and find one you like, then dedicate time to understanding the specific topics of interest. And remember: there are very few true "experts" in AI right now, so give yourself grace and be patient as you learn.

6. How can women in AI support each other? Following and joining organizations like Women and AI. Also, work on speaking and contributing to the zeitgeist so it's a more diverse set of voices in the field. Call out organizations that are less inclusive and suggest other diverse speakers/contributors, or offer to add your own voice. Celebrate each other's wins and accomplishments loudly!
