We’re excited to present Fleur Prince as a Featured AI Leader.
Let’s get to know how Fleur is using AI.
1. How is AI impacting your work?
AI has revolutionized the way I approach community management and social media strategy at Kickstart AI. My role requires me to be a social media manager, content creator, community manager, event/meetup planner, and copywriter all in one. AI has made this multifaceted role possible by providing invaluable tools and solutions that streamline my workflow and enhance my productivity. I leverage AI tools to analyze sentiment, identify trends, and gain valuable insights from the AI Community in the Netherlands. This allows me to understand our audience better, tailor our content and messaging, and respond promptly to their needs and concerns.AI-powered content creation tools have been a game-changer, enabling me to generate high-quality, engaging social media posts, newsletters, and other materials more efficiently. Additionally, AI assistants help me plan my work schedule, come up with content ideas, suggest topics for meetups, and even assist with coding tasks.By automating repetitive tasks and providing intelligent recommendations, AI has made my work more efficient, allowing me to focus on building genuine connections and fostering meaningful conversations with our community members.
2. How do you use AI in your daily life?
AI has become an integral part of my daily routine, both professionally and personally. From virtual assistants that help me manage my schedule and reminders to personalized recommendations for music, movies, and online content, AI has made my life more convenient and enriched my experiences. One of my favorite AI applications is a language learning app that uses advanced speech recognition and natural language processing to provide personalized feedback and adaptive learning paths. As someone passionate about languages and cultures, this tool has been invaluable in helping me improve my language skills and connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
3. What is your favorite AI tool right now?
My favorite AI tool right now is Perplexity. Perplexity is a powerful AI search engine that provides trusted and accurate answers by crawling the web in real-time and summarizing the most relevant information from reliable sources. Plus you can actually check the sources to make sure it is not hallucinating like in ChatGPT so often happens.
4. What advice do you have for someone who is just getting started with AI?
For anyone just starting their journey with AI, my advice would be to approach it with an open mind and a willingness to learn. AI is a rapidly evolving field, and it's essential to stay curious, embrace new technologies, and continuously upskill yourself.
Start by exploring the various AI tools and applications available in your field or area of interest. Don't be afraid to experiment and try out different solutions to find what works best for you. Additionally, seek out educational resources, attend workshops or online courses, and engage with the AI community to stay up-to-date with the latest developments and best practices. Remember, AI is not a replacement for human intelligence and creativity; rather, it's a powerful tool that can augment and enhance our capabilities. Embrace it as a partner in your personal and professional growth, and you'll be well-positioned to thrive in the AI-driven future.
5. Who should we follow in the AI space?
I'd recommend following these women: Natasha Govender-Ropert. She is the Head of Modelling at ING and big advocate for getting more women into AI. Also as Education Lead at Women in AI Netherlands she has set up the Activate program, which is meant to inspire young girls to seek a career in AI/Data Science. https://www.linkedin.com/in/natasha-govender/Saheli De is also an awesome person to follow, she was nominated as AI Impact Maker this year because she built an AI solution with her co-founders that is being used in over 14 countries in the world already. These solutions support growers in producing more and better vegetables in their greenhouse with less resources. AI in Agriculture, bet that is something you don't here often. https://www.linkedin.com/in/sahelide/Maria is also an amazing role model! She co-founded the community Marvelous MLOps and is a major voice in the Machine Learning community. She is great to follow if Machine Learning is your thing since she shares tips weekly and is very relatable with her memes. https://www.linkedin.com/in/maria-vechtomova/
6. How can women in AI support each other? 1. Educational Initiatives, Advocacy and Thought Leadership Initiatives like Women in AI Netherlands focus on educating and training women in AI from a young age. These programs introduce AI concepts, provide specialized training, and encourage women to pursue careers and entrepreneurship in the field. They also offer mentorship programs that connect experienced professionals with women starting their careers in AI. These programs provide guidance, career advice, and opportunities for skill development, fostering a supportive environment for growth.Organizations like this also bring together influential voices to advocate for diversity, ethical AI practices, and addressing the impact of AI on marginalized communities. Their thought leadership helps shape the narrative and drive positive change in the AI industry. 2. Networking and Community Building Regular meetups, circles, and events organized by organizations like Kickstart AI create spaces for people to connect, share knowledge, and build a supportive community. These gatherings facilitate collaboration, idea exchange, and the formation of professional relationships. Especially if the space is mixed with equal representation of men and women, there is so much to learn from each other, which is why I love our meetups. While the question specifically asks, "How can women in AI support each other?", it's important to recognize that creating a thriving and inclusive AI ecosystem requires collaboration and support from all genders. You shouldn't just focus on creating a female support system, but rather an equally distributed community consisting of people who hype you up and believe in you, regardless of gender.
Also, networking is key to success in this field. You don't have to go it alone, and many people in the AI ecosystem love collaborating and helping to bring ideas to life, turning them into practical AI applications that could potentially change the world. By fostering an environment where diverse perspectives and experiences are valued, we can collectively drive innovation and progress in AI. By following, supporting and actually following these women and organizations that undertake action and not just paint a pretty picture of what could be but actually showing what is possible by building practical AI applications and physical events, we can amplify their efforts, learn from their experiences, and contribute to creating a more inclusive AI ecosystem that shows how AI can contribute positively. Together, we can empower each other, break down barriers, and pave the way for future generations of AI leaders and innovators.
